Five Year’sResearchProduces New Weapon For Attack on Cancer
Test Injections of Ensol in Human Bodies Appear to Ameliorate Disease, Kingston Doctor Reports – Warns Against Unjustifiable Hopes.

Research by a Kingston physician has evolved a new treatment for cancer which may prove to be the means long sought by science to combat that disease.
The treatment involves injection of “ensol,” the name bestowed on the anti-cancer element discovered by Dr. H. C. Connell, originator and director of the research. In the several hundred cases thus far treated, retrogression of cancerous growths has been achieved without discomfort or harmful effects accompanying the process in any case.
Correlated with the discovery of the new element is the revelation in a new light of a basic bio-chemical principle, it is hoped, may come not only abatement of the scourge of cancer, but discovery of similar elements for the combating of tuberculosis and other diseases for which specific curative elements are unknown.
Only Time Will Tell.
Dr. Connell, who relinquished practice as an eye-ear-nose-throat specialist to devote all his time to the research, reflects the age-old caution of his profession. He is insistent that the element he has discovered and produced for successful administration to humans, must not be described as a cancer cure.
Only time, patience and further tests lasting months or years will
show definitely and conclusively, he avers, whether his discovery is what it now appears to be – an agent for both the eradication of cancerous growths and possible immunization against their development.
Nevertheless, with publication today in the Journal of the Canadian Medical Association of the first report of his research, every indication is that he has gone far along the road toward this goal. At least to the lay mind, medicine
seems to have within reach, if not within its grasp, the means of achieving dissolution of the deadly growths in cancer sufferers.
Bio-chemical Principle.
Great and hopeful as is the importance attached to Dr. Connell’s anti-cancer agent, his projection of the bio-chemical principle on which it is based is felt to possess, at least potentially, even more significance. The principle is the simple, but hitherto neglected one, of tissue-consuming ferments, and already it is guiding extended research to determine its application to other diseases, tuberculosis in particular.
Those who have studied Dr. Connell’s work and its results foresee, quite apart from the eventual value or otherwise of the new cancer treatment, that the basic principle involved will open a new field of medico-scientific investigation. Just as the discovery of insulin led the way to vast new knowledge in regard to bodily metabolism and the glands of internal secretion, so, it is believed will ensol result in vastly increased understanding of the chemistry and cellular structure of diseased body tissue.
Granted that further tests will confirm the ability of ensol to dissolve cancerous tissues and diminish growths, the question to which medical science patiently and cautiously awaits, the answer is this: Can ensol check malignancy without injuring normal body tissues? Should the existing indication to this effect be confirmed by further and conclusive research, theories hitherto held as to the workings of tissue-destroying elements will be revolutionized.
This, of course, remains to be seen, but the record of ensol’s achievements thus far is clouded with no such element of conjecture. Patients’ charts in the Kingston General Hospital, X-Ray plates made after ensol treatments, confirm the visual evidence of patients who entered the hospital bed-ridden, racked by pain, but walked out unassisted to return to normal daily activities.continued on page 5
