The cancer clinic at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, which opened over two weeks ago, has been an extremely busy part of the hospital. Patients have been receiving treatment at the Hotel Dieu clinic, some leaving and returning later for further treatment. At the present time there are fifteen patients receiving treatment at the cancer clinic at the Hotel Dieu.
Patients from distant points comprise the list of patients receiving treatment at the clinic. Visits are made to the hospital regularly by doctors administering the ensol treatment. Several cases have been reported as being materially helped by the treatment although, it was pointed out, no cures are claimed.

Report on More than 20 Cases Indicates Important Progress as Has Been Made in Study of Disease
This story of Dr. H. C. Connell’s experiments is believed of special interest to Uticans as several from this city are aware of his work or have taken treatments from him recently. The Observer-Dispatch outlined his theories and experiments in a story by Mary Joan Martin, published July 28. This story from New York gives developments since that time.
New York (LP) – Successful treatment of more than 20 cases of cancer, previously given up as hopeless, with the aid of a completely new method, focused the attention of scientists today upon Dr. Hendry C. Connell of Queen’s University, Kingston, Ont., Canada.
Whether Doctor Connell has discovered the long-sought cure for cancer, only time, with further experiments in the laboratories and hospitals of the world, will tell. If he has, his name will do down in history with the great benefactors of the human race.
At the moment, leading
Canadian medical men are convinced that he has made a significant contribution to the study of cancer which deserves the closest attention of the world of medicine.
Today’s issue of the Canadian Medical Association Journal, official publication of Canadian medicine, contains a preliminary report by Doctor Connell, the record of 30 cases treated, and an editorial expressing the journal’s confidence in Doctor Connell’s scientific abilities and emphasizing the importance of his work.
What Doctor Connell has done, according to his report to the journal, is to create a solution which dissolves away cancer tissue. In a number of the cases treated, the cancerous mass which was hard, grew softer and smaller.
“In justice to Doctor Connell it should be stated that his cases were of the desperate kind, those regarded as beyond the help of surgery or radiation. Consequently, his apparently successful results should be
given a higher rating than they might seem to deserve at first sight. Even with a cure which could properly be termed ‘specific,’ no doubt many cases of severity and in the late stages would not respond.
“The degree of amelioration which he has obtained is distinctly encouraging and clearly demands that his work be continued.”
In conclusion the Journal states: “To sum up. Cases of cancer, properly diagnosed by microscopic examination, with adequate case-histories, are being treated with a solution which has solvent properties on cancer cells, and are being followed up.continued on page 2
