...presented as a life prolonging serum and stated that with a few injections living to 150 years of age would not be unheard of.

The day after the Nazi attack, June 23, 1941, a cable from Moscow announced to the world, that the life-prolonging serum ACS had been perfected. The war curtailed further experiments on longevity and Bogomoletz’s activities were directed to producing enough serum to meet the needs of the battlefield.

At the time of Bogomoletz’s death in 1946 Dr. Connell was the only man in Canada who knew of ACS. Even though Bogomoletz’s serum ACS was not developed to treat cancer its fundamental procedure was the same as Dr.Connell’s Ensol. A combination of ACS and Ensol tests resulted in Connell saying that results were spectacular. In the mid 50’s The Kingston Whig Standard newspaper reported Connell saying ‘Experiments with cancer bearing animals showed that when they were stimulated with the Bogomoletz serum the speed of tumour growth was significantly depressed, even though this serum had nothing to do with cancer specifically but was a general reticular stimulant...

Even though ACS was not developed to treat cancer, its fundamental procedure was the same as Dr.Connell’s Ensol.

Connell goes on to say that Bogomoletz’s work is of great value as it helped to prove some of the fundamental principals by which the body tries to overcome disease and confirmed the importance of the reticular endothelial system in any study of the cancer problem’. Dr. Connell’s later research proved that malignant cancer cells also threw out substances into the blood stream in significant quantities as to damage the reticulo-endothelial cells themselves rendering them incapable of producing antibodies even when stimulated - in other words, even the cancer itself produces a particular type of reticular block.

Bertram Holsgrove...
was associated in the research,
a technician of the Department
of Bacteriology. Much of the success, Dr. Connell declared, was due to Mr. Holgrove's help.

As he was carrying on his regular medical practice, Dr. Connell could devote only the time after office hours to his research.
Together the two men laboured almost incessantly for many years, utilizing Sundays, holidays and often most nights as they pressed on toward their objective. Incidentally, Mr. Holgrove's services were largely gratuitous.
